Nicholasville police say lanes closed on US 27 after crash, traffic described as significantly reduced

Nicholasville Police Department said lanes were closed on U.S. 27 after a crash on Tuesday, June 23, according to a report from WKYT. The department said the closure had reduced traffic significantly on the roadway as responding units handled the incident.

WKYT reported that the police department’s update focused on the impact to motorists, stating that traffic was significantly reduced on U.S. 27 after the collision. The report did not describe the full sequence of events leading up to the crash, but it identified the roadway and the key public-safety measure of lane closures.

An image tied to the WKYT report captioned injuries from the crash as involving a 14-year-old who sustained critical injuries after a UTV overturned. The caption did not provide additional information about the child’s medical condition beyond describing the injuries as critical, and it did not specify whether the child was transported by ambulance or where the person was treated.

Police updates like the one described by WKYT typically aim to control traffic around an active scene, reduce the risk of secondary crashes, and allow crews to investigate and clear wreckage. In this case, the reported lane closure on U.S. 27 was the primary action conveyed to the public at the time of the update.

The report did not indicate when the lanes would reopen, whether citations were issued, or whether investigators were pursuing particular causes for the crash. Motorists would be expected to remain alert for further public-safety instructions from Nicholasville police and any associated agencies as the scene progresses.
