After a 27-10 defeat at Washington, Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni said the team is in an “uncharted” stretch and pointed to coaching and execution “details” as the next area to fix.
Philadelphia head coach Nick Sirianni framed the Eagles’ 27-10 loss to the Washington Commanders on Sunday night as a moment that demands continued resolve, even as the team operates in “somewhat uncharted territory.”
Sirianni said the problems were larger than any single unit and that the responsibility starts with him as a coach. He tied the team’s lack of results to missing “detail” from the coaching staff and players, and he said the Eagles would look for a “different approach” to correct it.
The Eagles jumped to an early 10-0 lead, when Saquon Barkley scored on a 3-yard direct-snap touchdown with 4:27 left in the first quarter. From there, Philadelphia did not add to its score, with two drives ending in turnovers and another potential scoring chance wiped out by penalties, including Jake Elliott’s first missed kick of the season.
Quarterback Tanner McKee, in his third start of the season, threw for 212 yards and an interception. He described the offense’s performance as “frustrating,” and the coach echoed the need for improved follow-through on execution and the “details.”
Sirianni said he believes the group will continue to “fight like hell,” emphasizing confidence in the locker room and the staff, even as he acknowledged the team has to get better as a whole.
