That story also tied the recruiting interest back to the family connection, noting Irvin’s father, Cedric Irvin, played at Michigan State, and that linebackers coach Max Bullough was a major recruiter for Notre Dame at the time of Irvin’s commitment.

One Foot Down’s June 7 breakdown went further than simply noting visits. The publication argued that Notre Dame allowing Irvin to remain committed while he navigates other recruiting opportunities is unusual for the Irish, and it suggested there is “little reason” to believe Irvin will stay long enough to solidify the linebacker class by itself. It also pointed to a top uncommitted option on Notre Dame’s board, Kaden Henderson, and described a potential timeline that could bring another linebacker into the mix, though that part was presented as a prediction rather than an official commitment date.
