The Green Bay Packers’ community partnership will help renovate a multi-use athletic field in Milwaukee, expanding safe playing opportunities for youth football and other park programs.
The Green Bay Packers, working with the NFL Foundation and the Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC), have awarded a $100,000 grant to the Milwaukee Parks Foundation to support installation of a natural grass football field at King Park in Milwaukee, Wis., according to the team.
The funding is intended to pay for renovations to the existing multi-use athletic field located in the southwest corner of the 21-acre King Park, owned and managed by Milwaukee County Parks.
Packers reporting says the upgraded field will continue to support high school football practices, flag football, and athletic training, with the park project also designed to create space for seasonal clinics, community events, and year-round youth engagement.
The announcement also ties the work to local use cases, noting Milwaukee Academy of Science plans to use the field for football in the fall and track in the spring.
The Packers release places the grant within the LISC Grassroots Field Grant Program, a partnership between the NFL Foundation and LISC described as operating for nearly three decades. The team says the initiative has distributed more than $70 million and supported construction or refurbishment of nearly 500 fields nationwide since its start.
In the release, Packers President and CEO Ed Policy framed the effort as an expansion of “local recreation spaces,” while NFL Foundation leadership described the program’s goal as improving access to safe, high-quality places for young people to play.
