Packers RB Josh Jacobs returns to practice with status for Lions game still TBD

Coach Matt LaFleur said Jacobs will get a full week of work after coming off the commissioner’s exempt list, but Green Bay has not finalized whether he will be active Sunday in Detroit.

Green Bay head coach Matt LaFleur said Josh Jacobs will be on the practice field Wednesday and receive a full week of work, but his status for the Packers’ upcoming game in Detroit remains “to be determined.”

Jacobs came off the commissioner’s exempt list Monday, which the team said makes him eligible to practice and play for the first time since the start of the regular season.

LaFleur said the Packers feel Jacobs is in “a pretty good spot,” adding that he has been training but has missed football exposure while on the exempt list.

The team also reported that the NFL is continuing its investigation into Jacobs’ case under the league’s personal conduct policy after Jacobs pleaded no contest to two misdemeanor charges from a domestic incident, with any potential discipline still pending.

On the defensive side, the Packers are still waiting for edge rusher Micah Parsons to return from a torn ACL; LaFleur said Parsons won’t practice this week, though he left open the possibility that the team could prime him for the post-Detroit short week if he clears medical hurdles.

Why It Matters

  • Jacobs’ return to practice is a key step in restoring Green Bay’s run production options heading into a major matchup in Detroit.
  • The uncertainty around his Sunday availability keeps the Packers’ offensive rotation and workload planning unresolved.
  • With Parsons still sidelined for this week, Green Bay’s defense enters the Lions game with an additional personnel gap on the edge.
  • The pending league determination on Jacobs’ case adds a layer of roster uncertainty beyond game-week planning.
