Packers remind Wisconsin students: deadlines and next steps for Character Playbook Community Impact Project
Middle and high school student groups can submit service-project proposals by Friday for the Green Bay Packers and Character Playbook’s Community Impact Project, which offers grant support for ideas built around local needs.
The Green Bay Packers are inviting Wisconsin middle and high school students to design community service projects as part of the Character Playbook Community Impact Project, now in its seventh year.
Student groups that want to participate must submit proposals online by Oct. 23. The projects are intended to directly impact a student’s school, neighborhood, or surrounding community, with work carried out under the guidance of a Wisconsin school or nonprofit organization.
If a proposal is selected, the student team can receive grant funding up to $500 through the NFL Volunteerism Grant to help implement the project. The Packers note past examples ranging from refurbishing common areas to creating welcome kits for refugee or immigrant families, neighborhood beautification, community gardens, food bank support, and online activities involving younger students or senior centers.
After proposals are narrowed, selected groups will present their plans to representatives from the Packers and Character Playbook during Nov. 18-20. Grant recipients will be notified by Dec. 1, and the projects should be completed by the end of the school year.
Why It Matters
- The program creates a formal pathway for youth-led service planning in Wisconsin schools and communities through Packers community outreach.
- Grant support can lower barriers for student groups to fund tangible improvements such as beautification efforts, food access initiatives, and student-to-student or student-to-senior programming.
- The required presentation step (Nov. 18-20) turns proposals into a competition for limited grant funding rather than open-ended applications.
- By asking projects to be finished by the school year’s end, the initiative emphasizes near-term community impact over long-term proposals.
