Police say the man is in custody and faces charges tied to a multi-vehicle collision last year that killed a Tennessee woman.
A Paintsville man has been arrested and placed in police custody in connection with a deadly multi-vehicle collision in Prestonsburg that occurred in 2025, according to LEX18. The arrest follows an investigation into the crash that authorities say resulted in the death of a Tennessee woman.
LEX18 reported that the man from Paintsville was taken into custody and is now facing charges connected to the collision. The report did not describe the specific charges, the alleged role he played in the crash, or the exact circumstances leading investigators to make the arrest.
The crash at the center of the case involved multiple vehicles in Prestonsburg and took place in 2025. Authorities tied the investigation to a fatality involving a Tennessee woman, whose death is described in the report as resulting from the crash.
The arrest announcement comes as police continue to work through the court process that typically follows criminal custody in Kentucky. Court filings and charging documents will provide the most complete picture of what prosecutors allege, including timelines, incident details, and the statutory basis for the charges.
Under Kentucky procedure, defendants placed in custody generally proceed to arraignment or an initial court appearance where bond and conditions of release may be addressed, depending on the circumstances of the case. If the defendant remains in custody, the next steps would include scheduling for further hearings and the presentation of evidence through the prosecution and defense.
For residents in the region, the case is likely to refocus attention on roadway safety and the importance of investigation in serious collisions, particularly those involving multiple vehicles and fatalities.
LEX18 did not include additional confirmed information in its report about any related citations, witness statements, or whether further arrests are expected. The ongoing criminal case will depend on what prosecutors can substantiate and what the court record reflects going forward.
