Paramount+ Orders Limited Series Sequel to “Clueless,” With Alicia Silverstone Returning

Paramount+ has ordered a limited series sequel to “Clueless,” bringing the Alicia Silverstone-starring property back to development with a new home at the streaming service, Deadline reported. The project comes from longtime television producer Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, with Jordan Weiss also attached, and CBS Studios participating in its production.

Deadline reported that the series is being developed as a limited series rather than an ongoing run. The new order places the project within Paramount+’s slate and confirms the sequel’s status as greenlit for the next stage of production planning, including scheduling and casting.

Silverstone is set to star in the sequel series, with “Clueless” as the franchise point of origin for the streaming adaptation. The film originally introduced the character of Cher Horowitz to mass audiences, and the sequel project is described as a continuation that keeps Silverstone in the starring role.

According to Deadline, filming is slated to begin in Los Angeles in 2027. The Los Angeles production location suggests the series is expected to follow a typical U.S. studio pipeline, including local permitting, union production arrangements, and availability of cast and crew during the planned 2027 window.

The “Clueless” sequel project is associated with CBS Studios, which is listed as part of the production team. Schwartz and Savage, known for showrunning and adaptation work in multiple formats, are identified among the project’s creators, while Weiss is also attached, according to the Deadline report.

For viewers, the Paramount+ order means the sequel is moving beyond development and toward a production timeline that will likely determine when the story reaches subscribers.
