PART II - USAMU Service Rifle Team Dominates Mid & Long Range Championships

CAMP PERRY, Ohio - After a standout National Trophy Week, the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit Service Rifle Team rolled straight into the Civilian Marksmanship Program’s Mid and Long-Range Championships and delivered another week of commanding performances. Across two 3x600 days, multiple 1000‑yard matches, team events and the international 12‑man Palma match, USAMU shooters stacked wins, podium finishes and aggregate titles.

Mid‑Range 3x600: Butler, Stewart, Frost and Bahten Lead the Charge

USAMU opened Mid‑Range Week with a flurry of top finishes across all rifle categories.

On Day 1, Sgt. Reiley Stewart won the Service Rifle Division with 596‑24x, followed by Staff Sgt. Shane Butler and Staff Sgt. Ryan Blackford. In Match Rifle Division, Sgt. 1st Class David Bahten and Staff Sgt. Logan Frost went 1‑2 with matching 600s. Day 2 brought more USAMU firepower - Butler won Service Rifle with 599‑36x, while Frost and Bahten again finished second and third in the Match Rifle Division.

By week’s end, Butler claimed the Service Rifle 3x600 Aggregate title with 1190‑64x, Stewart placed second and Blackford third. Frost and Bahten finished first and second in the Match Rifle Aggregate.

Mid‑Range Team Matches: USAMU Sweeps Service Rifle

USAMU’s team cohesion shined in the Mid‑Range team events. Butler and Kingshill won both Day 1 and Day 2 Service Rifle Team Matches, posting 397‑17x and 398‑22x. Blackford and Stewart added a second‑place finish on Day 1.

In Palma Rifle, Sgt. Adam Fitzpatrick and Linse earned a Day 1 podium, while Staff Sgt. Verne Conant and his civilian teammate Jason Epperly won Day 2 with a perfect 400‑27x.

1000‑Yard Memorial Matches: Stewart and Bahten Stack Wins

USAMU shooters delivered standout performances across the Viale, Baesel, Kerr, Henry and McMaken & Speaks Memorial Matches.

Stewart won three Service Rifle Divisions in the 1000‑yard matches - Viale (198‑4x), Baesel (196‑5x) and Kerr (196‑8x) - and placed first in the Camp Perry Palma Service Rifle Match with 442‑18x.

Bahten added wins in the Baesel (199‑12x) and McMaken & Speaks (199‑14X) Match Rifle Divisions.

Kingshill earned a second place Palma Rifle finish in the Henry Memorial Match with 199‑8x.

Long Range Aggregate: Stewart Claims Service Rifle Title

Stewart’s consistency across the week earned him the CMP Lon- Range Service Rifle Aggregate title with 1596‑50x. Blackford placed third with 1568‑44x.

USAMU’s team strength was on full display:

International 12‑Man Palma Match: USA Wins with Heavy USAMU Presence

The U.S. Palma Team won the 12‑man international match with 5339‑292x, powered by six USAMU shooters (Butler, Frost, Fitzpatrick, Kingshill, Linse and Marshall) and two USAMU veterans (Brandon Green and Amanda Elsenboss). Their combined scores anchored the U.S. victory over Great Britain and CAN‑AM.

From mid‑range precision to 1000‑yard mastery, USAMU’s second week at Camp Perry reinforced the unit’s reputation for technical skill, disciplined execution and unmatched depth across multiple rifle disciplines.
