RANGER SCHOOL PACKING LIST

Success in the Ranger Course begins long before you step onto Camp Rogers; it starts with the meticulous preparation of your gear. The Ranger School packing list is not a set of friendly recommendations - it is a baseline tactical requirement. Every item on this list has been battle-tested to ensure your survivability, lethality, and operational capacity across the rugged terrains of Darby, Mountains, and Florida phases. Arriving with missing, unserviceable, or unauthorized equipment immediately compromises your ability to train, puts unnecessary strain on your squad, and can result in administrative drop before the first event even begins. Treating your packing list with the disciplined attention of a pre-combat inspection (PCI) is your very first step toward earning the Ranger Tab.

The Administrative section of the packing list contains your critical gatekeeper documents and identification items. Missing any of these items will result in immediate dismissal during in-processing.

This section covers your standard tactical loadout, organizational clothing, and basic field uniforms. Candidates must report with complete rucksacks, sleep systems, and protective equipment, alongside their assigned individual weapons and night vision optics. You will also need multiple complete sets of authorized OCP uniforms, boots, and seasonal weather layers to sustain yourself in the field.

This category contains the tactical tools required to navigate, survive, and operate in a field environment. This includes wet-weather gear, cold-weather undergarments, and land navigation equipment like compasses and protractors. You must also pack basic field sustainment items, including water canteens, hydration systems, and initial field rations.

These items are highly recommended to prevent injuries and maintain stamina during long field rotations. This includes basic field comfort items like foot powder, lip balm, and sunscreen, as well as utility tools, extra batteries, and basic hygiene gear to assist with minor uniform maintenance and personal care.

To ensure you are fully prepared for Day One, download the official V13 Packing List [PDF - 319.7 KB] to use as your personal checklist during your Ranger School preparation.

Version 13 is effective Ranger Class 11-26, 30 AUG 26, and applies to all COMPOs - Active Army, National Guard and Army Reserve
