MLB reported that he was named the American League Reliever of the Month for June after logging an MLB-high 11 saves across 16 innings. The production came with precise command and swing-and-miss value, highlighted by 19 strikeouts against four walks in that span.

The month also stood out for multi-inning impact. According to MLB, Latz recorded three saves of two or more innings during June, more than any other pitcher did across the entire 2026 season. That ability to handle higher-leverage situations and extended outings has helped define his usage profile and, by extension, the Rangers’ bullpen structure.

The All-Star selection also underscores how spring training competition can reshape an organization’s depth chart. Latz’s case was not that he simply shifted from one role to another, but that the Rangers effectively treated him as the organization’s best late-inning option once the starting job picture changed.
