Baltimore added familiar depth at quarterback by signing Austin Reed to the practice squad after injuries to Lamar Jackson (thumb) and Tyler “Snoop” Huntley (toe), with a quick Thursday night game on deck.
With a short turnaround to a Thursday Night Football matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars, the Ravens signed quarterback Austin Reed to their practice squad, creating additional depth at a position thinned by injuries.
Baltimore moved to make room for Reed by waiving fullback Lucas Scott. The transaction keeps the Ravens stocked for the week after Lamar Jackson suffered a thumb injury and Tyler “Snoop” Huntley sustained a toe injury.
Reed spent part of training camp and all of the preseason with the Ravens, which the team cited as familiarity with Baltimore’s playbook and readiness to step in if needed. He appeared in each of the Ravens’ three preseason games, completing 6 of 12 passes for 59 yards with one touchdown and one interception, and he also ran for a 14-yard touchdown.
The team framed Reed as a “familiar face” within the quarterback group, noting that he has additional context with offensive coordinator/passing-game direction associated with the Ravens’ scheme. The release also connected Reed to earlier familiarity in 2025 after he spent time with the Chicago Bears during the summer.
Baltimore’s immediate on-field quarterback situation has also changed. After Jackson and Huntley went down, Joe Fagnano made his NFL regular-season debut and, in a 36-10 loss at Buffalo, went 10 of 21 for 91 yards with an interception and a lost fumble.
