DUGWAY PROVING GROUND, Utah - Dugway Proving Ground honored Command Sergeant Major Jessica Cho during a traditional Relinquishment of Responsibility Ceremony on August 6, 2026. Col. Brian Sansom, commander of Dugway Proving Ground, presided over the ceremony as the senior commander.
During his farewell speech, Col. Brian Sansom highlighted Cho and the impact she had on Dugway. Praising her for the time they had working together, and being someone that he can trust, mentioning how couldn’t have asked for anyone better. He emphasized her positive attitude and expressiveness towards the people here on the installation. “She wasn’t just visible across the installation; she was visible throughout the community,” Col. Sansom said. He credited her for making time for the people and for making the time, she built trust. Pointing out her trademark smile, enthusiasm and signature high five. He finished off by thanking Cho for her time here on Dugway leaving it stronger than when she first came.
Taking the podium, Cho reflected on her time on base and how much Dugway impacted her. She addressed the challenges that she faced when first arriving at a civilian-heavy installation and how she’s had to adapt and change to be a better leader for Dugway. “No matter how many years in service we have, we continue to change and transform.’ Cho said, “[We are] working towards not what we want in the organization but what the organization needs at the time.”
Cho closed by thanking her team members, her mother and everyone in between for the dedication and the help they provided while she was on Dugway. Though her time at Dugway was shorter than a full two-year, her time here will not be forgotten.
Before coming to Dugway CSM Cho served as a Decontamination Team member, Squad Leader, Sample Team Leader, Drill Sergeant, Senior Drill Sergeant, S3 NCOIC, Cultural Support Team NCOIC, Operations Sergeant, Platoon Sergeant, First Sergeant, and G33 Sergeant Major.
Her stateside assignments include Pohakuloa Training Area, Fort Campbell, Kentucky, Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland, Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, Fort Bragg, North Carolina, Fort Stewart, Georgia, and Fort Bliss, Texas. She has one overseas assignment to the Republic of South Korea, and has deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan in support of Operations Iraqi Freedom, New Dawn and Enduring Freedom. Her new assignment will bring her to Hawaii, as Commandant of the Noncommissioned Officer Academy.
