Rescuers race to find thousands missing after deadly Himalayan floods in Nepal and Tibet

Rescue crews in Nepal and China’s Tibet region are racing to find thousands of people reported missing after deadly floods swept through parts of the Himalayas, according to NPR. Teams on the ground said searches have been slowed by destroyed or blocked access routes, steep terrain, and continuing risks from unstable river channels and ongoing storm conditions.

In Nepal, authorities and emergency responders have been trying to reach affected communities where floodwaters surged through mountain valleys. As teams continue their searches, emergency officials have emphasized that the risk environment can change quickly.
