UFC’s “Freedom 250” drew about 7 million average viewers in the U.S., but the promotion’s novelty outing did not top the viewership mark set the previous month by Most Valuable Promotions’ “Rousey vs. Carano.”
UFC’s one-time White House event, billed as UFC Freedom 250, arrived with unusual setting and high-profile matchups, yet the broadcast numbers have become part of the sport’s ongoing promotional arms race. According to reported viewership figures, the card averaged about 7 million viewers in the United States.
The event’s profile was clear from the matchup lineup. The White House show featured two of the promotion’s biggest stars, Ilia Topuria and Alex Pereira, and also included names such as Justin Gaethje, Sean O’Malley, and Ciryl Gane.
Ronda Rousey and Jake Paul were among the figures reacting publicly to the numbers. The pair mocked the outcome, contrasting the White House spectacle with the higher viewership associated with a recent MVP card built around Rousey’s brand.
Most Valuable Promotions’ “Rousey vs. Carano,” which was reported as drawing about 9.3 million average viewers in the U.S., became the benchmark that the UFC card could not surpass. In other words, novelty did not convert into a higher peak audience than the earlier crossover-style attraction.
Paul, who is co-founder of Most Valuable Promotions and has been positioning his company as a major MMA driver, made his response explicit. He posted on X that as a boxing promoter it feels good “waking up today being the biggest MMA promoter,” a comment framed by the comparison between the two cards’ reported audience figures.
For UFC, the challenge is not just putting on fights, but ensuring the product translates into mass-viewer attention, especially when the event format differs from the typical arena cadence. The White House venue underscored that UFC is willing to chase attention through scale and spectacle, but the audience comparison highlights that timing and story framing matter just as much as location.
For the sport’s ecosystem, the reaction underscores a growing reality: viewership benchmarks are now a headline currency, and promoters are increasingly willing to compete in public narratives, not only in match-making. What to watch next is whether UFC adjusts future presentation and promotion strategy in response to audience comparisons, and whether MVP and other promoters continue to leverage Rousey-linked brand power.
