After an early-season start of 1-2, Boston English/New Mission (5-2) rallied for a 12-6 win over O’Bryant High School in the city championship, leading to the New England Patriots’ weekly honor for Head Coach Ryan Conway.
Boston English/New Mission High School Head Coach Ryan Conway earned the New England Patriots Coach of the Week honor after his Bulldogs captured the Boston City League championship with a 12-6 victory over O’Bryant High School.
The win capped a season turnaround for the Bulldogs. The team started 1-2, then responded with four straight wins, culminating in the city title clinched by the O’Bryant result.
In the championship game, Boston English/New Mission’s offense was led by senior Manuel Miranda, who produced eight carries for 101 yards and a touchdown.
On defense, senior Daniel Costello led a unit that held O’Bryant to a single touchdown. Costello recorded 15 tackles and added a fumble recovery.
The Patriots also recognized Conway’s program impact beyond the field. NFL Hall of Fame linebacker Andre Tippett, the Patriots’ Executive Director of Community Affairs, met with the Bulldogs on Tuesday and presented a $1,000 donation to the football program on behalf of the Kraft family and the New England Patriots Charitable Foundation.
says the visit and donation presentation will be featured on the weekly television program “Patriots All Access,” with an episode airing Friday night at 7 p.m. on WBZ-TV in Boston and available for viewing.
