Salesforce and Anthropic expand partnership with Claudeforce, bringing Claude reasoning into Salesforce workflows
The new offering includes a Salesforce in Claude plugin with prebuilt sales skills, aimed at letting customer-facing teams ask questions and take governed actions inside the Claude assistant.
Salesforce and Anthropic on Wednesday announced Claudeforce, an expanded strategic partnership intended to connect Claude’s reasoning to the data, workflows, business logic and governance that sit inside the Salesforce platform. The companies said the goal is to let enterprises take “trusted” actions directly from Claude wherever work happens, rather than having users manually move through static screens to complete tasks.
The launch centers on “Salesforce in Claude,” described as a plugin that includes 37 prebuilt sales skills. Salesforce said the skills are designed to help sellers and agents reason over live revenue context, automate pipeline updates, and take actions that follow Salesforce’s business rules. The companies also said the setup is designed to be administratively straightforward, with authentication and permissions handled centrally rather than requiring per-user configuration or a new permissions model.
Salesforce positioned the release as a shift toward “agentic experiences,” where AI can use enterprise tools and execute multi-step tasks. In the companies’ description, Claudeforce combines Claude’s ability to adapt, decide and execute in real time with Salesforce’s deterministic systems that enforce enterprise governance, rules and workflows. Salesforce Chair and CEO Marc Benioff said probabilistic intelligence alone does not run a company, and deterministic systems do not reason, arguing that the integration aims to fuse both capabilities.
A core component of the rollout is data access within Salesforce’s environment. The companies said Salesforce in Claude is made possible by “AIforce,” Salesforce’s “trusted enterprise harness” that brings business data and workflows to an agent through MCP servers, APIs, and CLI tools, without what Salesforce called complicated and costly integrations. Salesforce in Claude, the companies added, is also tied to product components they named including Headless 360, Data 360, Tableau and Slack, to connect work contexts and analytics.
The sales plugin experience, as described in the release, includes an onboarding flow that reads a seller’s enterprise context across Salesforce, Slack and connectors available in Claude. That context is then used to generate an interactive dashboard showing accounts, pipeline and live data, with Claude producing and updating the views. Salesforce said actions are routed through Salesforce to help ensure business rules are enforced when those actions are taken.
Security and deployment boundaries were also emphasized. The companies said Claude is available in the Salesforce Trust Boundary through Amazon Bedrock, allowing customers, including those in regulated industries, to deploy domain-specific AI while keeping data and AI workloads secure within that boundary. Salesforce also referenced its existing security and development tooling, including Salesforce Shield, Backup and Sandboxes, as foundations for the new capabilities.
Beyond sales, the announcement tied Claudeforce to broader integration points across the Salesforce and Slack ecosystems. The release said Claude will be the default model for Slack AI and that Slackbot, described as the assistant inside Slack, is powered by Claude for Salesforce customers and employees. It also said Claudeforce would expand integrations across Claude, Salesforce and Slack, including Claude’s role across multiple layers of Slack, and cited Slack features such as “Claude Tag” and “Slack Code,” where Claude is positioned as a founding partner.
Internally, Salesforce said Slackbot has driven 8.1 million hours of annualized productivity gains, up more than two times quarter over quarter, and it said Claude is the default model for Slack AI, Slackbot, Salesforce in Claude, Headless 360, Agentforce Coworker and Claude Code within its engineering organization. The company also stated it will make Claude Code and Claude Enterprise available to all of its developers and knowledge workers as its preferred AI assistant and productivity tools.
Still, the companies did not provide details that enterprise buyers often look for, such as contract pricing, commercial availability dates by region, or specific metrics for how Claudeforce will change conversion or sales cycle times. They also did not spell out which Salesforce data objects and workflow types are supported in all cases, or what governance controls customers can configure beyond the general description of centralized authentication, permissions and routing actions through Salesforce.
Why It Matters
- The announcement indicates intensifying competition among enterprise AI platforms to move from chat-only experiences to AI-driven, tool-using “agentic” workflows tied to business systems.
- By emphasizing governance and routing actions through Salesforce, the companies are targeting a key adoption hurdle for AI in customer operations: making outputs operational while enforcing permissions and rules.
- Embedding Claude into Slack and naming it a default model for Slack AI suggests a strategy to standardize AI assistance across the day-to-day collaboration environment, not just within CRM screens.
- If customers expand usage as described, it could increase Salesforce’s role as the system of record and system of action, with AI acting as the interface layer across teams.
