MLB.com updated its weekly look at the league’s premier starters, with Schlittler retaining the No. 1 spot after a standout performance. Four additional pitchers were added to the rankings following season-long runs.
’s latest Starting Pitcher Power Rankings put a new emphasis on stability at the very top, with Schlittler holding steady as the list’s No. 1 starting pitcher. The ranking update followed what described as a historic outing the previous week, a marker that helped confirm his standing among the league’s most impactful arms.
Beyond the headliner change in the pecking order, the rankings also featured broader movement, including fresh faces entering the list. reported that four new names joined the Starting Pitcher Power Rankings thanks to strong performances throughout the season, underscoring how quickly momentum can translate into national attention for pitchers who have separated from the pack.
The power-rankings concept is built to track how a starter’s results and overall form stack up against other qualified pitchers across the league. While each player’s rank is designed to reflect a combination of recent success and sustained effectiveness, the rankings also highlight a truth familiar to MLB followers: a rotation spot can look one way early in the year, and very differently by late June as teams settle into patterns.
For fans watching the American League’s weekly storyline, this specific edition matters because it provides a snapshot of which starters are currently shaping games at the highest level, regardless of division. A pitcher who holds the top position is rarely a one-time story, and ’s decision to keep Schlittler in front suggests the performance that caught attention was not isolated.
It is also a reminder that ranking inclusion is not static. ’s update said four pitchers were newly added, which indicates that other starters have recently reached the threshold that the rankings track, whether through an extended stretch of run prevention, improved command, or consistent ability to convert strong starts into quality outings.
What to watch next is whether Schlittler’s top placement remains durable as the schedule intensifies and other pitchers, including those newly added, either build on their momentum or fade back into the middle tiers. With six through 10 visible in each update, the rankings will likely continue to reward both peak performances and the steady accumulation of high-leverage value.
Because this story is based on the publication’s ranking update rather than a full slate of statistical breakdowns in the materials provided here, the exact reasons for each rank movement and the names of the newly added pitchers were not included in the available text. Further verification of the specific pitchers and the cited “historic outing” details would be needed for readers who want the granular matchup context behind the rankings.
