Fans in Louisville will get a chance to see the coming-of-age classic again on the big screen this fall and hear from cast members connected to the 40th anniversary celebration, according to a report from WLKY.
“Stand by Me” stars are reuniting in Louisville for a special 40th anniversary event that will bring the 1980 film back to the big screen this fall, WLKY reported on June 23, 2026. The local station said fans will have an opportunity not only to watch the movie in a theater setting but also to connect with cast members who helped make the film a touchstone for multiple generations.
WLKY’s report names Corey Feldman, Jerry O’Connell, and Wil Wheaton as the actors involved in the Louisville stop for the anniversary program. The station framed the reunion as a fan-focused occasion, with the evening planned around the film’s return to theatrical viewing and a chance for audience members to hear directly from the stars.
According to WLKY, the 40th anniversary event will occur “this fall,” with additional event details such as exact dates, the venue, and ticketing information not included in the report’s summary. As a result, residents interested in attending are expected to rely on further announcements from the event organizers closer to the scheduled fall window.
The film, based on Stephen King’s novella “The Body,” has remained widely known for its depiction of friendship and coming-of-age themes, which is part of what has made the movie a frequent target for theatrical anniversary screenings. WLKY’s report ties this continuing fan interest to the cast reunion in Louisville.
For local audiences, the practical impact is centered on attendance and public engagement. A cast appearance typically draws larger crowds than a standard repertory screening, and the event will likely require normal event-day planning, including parking, traffic management, and theater staffing for capacity and crowd flow.
Residents who plan to attend are advised to review official event listings and policies once they are posted, particularly for entry requirements, age rules, and any changes to schedule. With the report describing the program at a high level and referencing only a fall timeframe, organizers’ later updates will be the key source for confirmed logistical details.
The Louisville reunion also reflects how entertainment properties continue to use anniversary milestones to support community-facing experiences. In this case, the announced focus is on a theater run and a direct audience interaction component featuring multiple cast members.
WLKY’s report provides the main confirmed facts at this stage: the film title, the 40th anniversary framing, the Louisville location, the fall timing, and the cast names tied to the event. Any additional information about the specific venue, format, and program schedule would be expected to come in subsequent announcements.
