Tennessee picked up a commitment from Dylan Haley, a 2027 defensive back/ cornerback prospect from Cherokee Bluff (Flowery Branch, Georgia), marking another addition to Josh Heupel’s recruiting push in the defensive backfield. The pledge was reported as an SEC recruiting win over Ole Miss and Florida, two schools that had pushed him heavily in the final weeks of the process.

Haley is listed at 6-foot-1 and 180 pounds, and the Vols sold him on the day-to-day feel of the program as much as the official visit itself. In follow-up reporting, Haley described how extended time with coaches, players, and the support staff helped confirm his decision, and he also pointed to the atmosphere at Neyland Stadium as part of what stood out during Tennessee’s trip.

Recruiting background matters because it shows how long the Vols worked to get to this point. Tennessee was the first program to offer Haley, doing so on Oct. 16, 2025, and the Yahoo report says Haley ultimately visited four times, with his most recent official visit coming on June 5.

While Haley’s decision closes the recruitment, the lead-up was defined by a tight two-team finish. On3’s account says Ole Miss impressed him during its trip to Oxford, but Tennessee’s visit ultimately “sealed the deal,” with Haley noting the “vibe of the players and coaches” as a deciding factor.

Reporting around the pledge has Haley projected as a corner who has the versatility to play “across the backend of the defense,” a fit that can become increasingly valuable as defensive schemes place different demands on boundary coverage, movement skills, and tackling responsibilities.

Recruiting rankings for Haley vary by service, so it is safest to describe him as a high-end prospect in the class rather than anchor the story to a single star label. Yahoo’s Vols Wire report, for example, lists him as a three-star cornerback and cites 247Sports placement him around the No. 55 “athlete” in the class and No. 84 player in Georgia. That difference versus other outlets’ phrasing is not unusual in recruiting cycles.
