‘The Crow Girl’ returns to Paramount+ with Season 2 trailer and UK release date

Paramount+ has released an exclusive first look at the second season of its British dark crime drama, with the series set to return on July 20 in the UK and Ireland.

Paramount+ has unveiled a trailer for the second season of the British dark crime drama The Crow Girl, in a move that indicates the streamer’s continued push into scripted original programming with a UK-set thriller built around law-enforcement and medical investigation. The new trailer carries the warning line “Justice will be hers,” and it previews a season that expands beyond prior casework while keeping the show’s investigative core.

The series is scheduled to return to Paramount+ on July 20 in the UK and Ireland. Deadline reports that Eve Myles and Katherine Kelly will reprise their roles as DCI Jeanette Kilburn and Dr. Sophia Craven, respectively, leading the six-part run in the second season.

Deadline’s preview describes the new season’s case as involving multiple disturbing locations and discoveries. In the trailer, Kilburn’s pursuit of the killers of young male asylum seekers is said to take a “shocking turn” after a mummified body is found sealed inside a church wall. The account also says another body, found in a freezer, points investigators toward a darker connection that links back to the central investigation.

The reporting also frames Craven’s storyline as moving deeper into a complicated and increasingly charged relationship with Kilburn. In the trailer, Craven begins to suspect her mysterious former patient, Victoria Burkeman, Deadline reports, adding another thread to the season’s tension as the case develops.

Off-screen production details included in Deadline’s coverage place Buccaneer Media as the production company for Season 2, made in association with ITV Studios. Deadline also says ITV Studios holds international distribution rights, and that Paramount+ commissioned the season as a UK and Ireland original.

The Crow Girl’s first season, Deadline notes, was adapted from the Erik Axl Sund novel of the same name. Season 2 is written by Milly Thomas, who is also credited as an actor with work including The Crown and Sex Education, according to the same report.

Why It Matters

  • A July 20 release in the UK and Ireland sets a defined viewing timeline for Paramount+ subscribers and UK scripted drama audiences.
  • The show’s Season 2 premise continues to put law enforcement and medical investigation narratives at the center of a British original, reflecting ongoing investment in UK-based genre series.
  • Production and distribution arrangements involving Buccaneer Media and ITV Studios indicate continued involvement of established UK production and rights structures for international streaming markets.
  • The trailer’s focus on asylum-related murders, church-wall remains, and interconnected evidence highlights how future episodes are likely to keep foregrounding casework that depends on procedural access and institutional coordination.
