Toyota Racing looks to carry Le Mans momentum into 6 Hours of São Paulo
After winning the 94th Le Mans 24 Hours, Toyota’s endurance squad heads to Interlagos with the WEC title lead within reach as the 2026 World Endurance Championship resumes July 10-12 in Brazil.
Toyota Racing will return to the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) in Brazil this weekend, taking on the 6 Hours of São Paulo at Interlagos (July 10-12) following its victory at Le Mans last month.
At the 94th Le Mans 24 Hours, Toyota said it overcame adversity and an “ultra-competitive” Hypercar field to win for the sixth time at the French endurance classic. The crew of Mike Conway, Kamui Kobayashi and Nyck de Vries drove the #7 TR010 HYBRID to first place, while a double podium also helped Toyota move into the lead of the manufacturers’ World Championship by 36 points.
The Le Mans win also elevated Conway, Kobayashi and de Vries to the top of the drivers’ standings by a four-point margin as the series turns toward South America. Toyota noted that the #8 TR010 HYBRID pairing of Sébastien Buemi, Brendon Hartley and Ryō Hirakawa finished third in France and remained in the title fight, 19 points behind their teammates.
For São Paulo, Toyota said it is aiming to win again and is traveling with a recent Brazil benchmark that includes strong results in the early portion of this year’s WEC calendar. The team cited a positive record from its five races so far in Brazil, including two pole positions and two victories, and it described the week as a challenge that will start with engineering adjustments during practice.
The São Paulo circuit itself adds complications. Toyota said Interlagos is 4.309 kilometers in length and is run anti-clockwise, while its relatively high altitude of more than 700 meters reduces engine performance and downforce. In that context, the company said free practice sessions are particularly important to fine-tune car settings before the race.
Toyota’s schedule for the weekend begins on Friday with two free practice sessions. Qualifying is set for Saturday at 3:25 p.m. local time (8:25 p.m. CEST), setting up Sunday’s race start at 11:30 a.m. local time (4:30 p.m. CEST).
Toyota also pointed to earlier success this season, saying the #8 TR010 HYBRID crew is seeking a second win in 2026 after taking victory in the season-opening 6 Hours of Imola. In addition to chasing standings points, the team is effectively defending the “momentum” of Le Mans against rivals clustered in the Hypercar class.
Even with the title math presented, Toyota’s announcement does not disclose specific technical updates planned for São Paulo, changes to the race strategy, or what it expects from competitors’ pace. The statement focuses on the championship situation, the physical demands of Interlagos, and the team’s operational plan for practice, qualifying and race execution.
