THE APEX TIMES
Pakistan’s prime minister, acting as a mediator in U.S.-Iran talks, says a peace agreement is nearing completion and may be finalized within 24 hours, while Iran’s position on timing differs from the U.S. timeline.
U.S. President Donald Trump said a deal intended to end the Iran war will be signed Sunday, but the timetable for finalizing the agreement remains contested as Iran disputes aspects of the timing, according to a report citing the latest diplomatic exchanges.
Pakistan’s prime minister, who has been described in the report as a key mediator in U.S.-Iran efforts, said Saturday that a peace deal is closer “than ever before.” The prime minister added that the agreement could be finalized “in the next 24 hours,” framing the process as rapidly approaching conclusion.
The remarks underscore how, even with multiple parties presenting a narrowing window, the final steps for an accord depend on synchronization between negotiating positions. The report characterizes Iran as disagreeing on the timing, suggesting the parties are not fully aligned on when signing can occur or when key steps should be completed.
The developing situation also highlights Pakistan’s continued role in facilitating high-stakes talks. By publicly linking its mediation efforts to a near-term deadline, Pakistan’s prime minister indicated that the negotiations are in a phase where remaining issues, including those related to timing, could determine whether the agreement meets the U.S.-stated Sunday signing date.
For U.S. and Iranian officials, a signed agreement would represent the clearest public commitment to halt hostilities and shift the process into whatever implementation stage follows. Until a final document is completed, public statements from both sides indicate that discussions are still active and that disagreements can affect the calendar.
The report provides limited details about the specific terms under discussion, the scope of the war-ending arrangement, or the mechanics of any enforcement and verification steps. Those elements, if not yet finalized, would be expected to become clearer once the agreement is formally signed and released to the public or confirmed through official channels.
As of the time of the report, the immediate next step depended on whether the parties can resolve the timing dispute without further delay. If the agreement is signed Sunday as Trump indicated, it would move the diplomacy from public sequencing to the legal and procedural actions required to implement a war-ending accord. If the timing dispute persists, the difference in stated deadlines would likely prolong uncertainty for stakeholders tracking the negotiations.
