Dillon Dingler has claimed the 2026 Rawlings Gold Glove at catcher for the second straight year, leading American League catchers with both Fielding Run Value and Defensive Runs Saved.
Dillon Dingler is the 2026 Gold Glove winner at catcher in the American League, repeating as the position’s top defender as the Rawlings awards were announced Tuesday on ESPN.
Established in 1957, the Gold Glove Award recognizes the best defensive player at each position in each league. The voting combines input from MLB managers and coaches (75%) and the sabermetrics community (25%), with managers and coaches voting only within their own league and not for players on their own teams.
Dingler’s case for a second straight honor was built on run-prevention and catch-quality metrics, as MLB reported that he led all AL catchers with 17 Fielding Run Value and 15 Defensive Runs Saved.
The win adds another chapter to Detroit’s recent Gold Glove history at catcher. MLB notes that Dingler is the fourth Tigers catcher to earn the award, joining Bill Freehan (1965-69), Lance Parrish (1983-85), and Hall of Famer Ivan Rodriguez (2004, 2006-07).
Beyond Detroit, MLB listed full 2026 Gold Glove recipients at every position, including other repeat or multi-win winners such as Cody Bellinger (left field) and Wilyer Abreu (right field), as well as first-time winners across several spots.
