Two I-65 underpasses in downtown Louisville scheduled for closure through mid-October

Two major underpasses on Interstate 65 in downtown Louisville are scheduled to close this week as crews continue work on the I-65 Central Corridor project, according to WLKY. The closures affect the I-65 underpasses at Muhammad Ali Boulevard and at Broadway, where both drivers and pedestrians will face detours or restricted access during construction activities.

WLKY reported that the Muhammad Ali Boulevard underpass is among the locations targeted for the latest round of closures. The report said the closure will remain in place for an extended period, continuing until mid-October as the corridor project progresses.

The Broadway underpass will also be closed as part of the same construction schedule, WLKY said. During the closure window, road users are expected to rely on alternative routes through downtown while crews carry out work planned for the Central Corridor area.

The I-65 Central Corridor project is intended to improve and manage transportation capacity in the Interstate 65 corridor through Louisville, and the current closures are part of that broader construction sequencing, WLKY said.
