Wan'Dale Robinson switches from No. 17 to No. 4 with Titans to honor Rondale Moore

Tennessee Titans wide receiver Wan'Dale Robinson is entering the 2026 season with a new number, moving from No. 17, which he wore during his early NFL career with the New York Giants, to No. 4. The switch is tied to a personal reason, with Robinson saying he wanted to carry Moore’s number forward after choosing to leave 17 behind.

The Titans had multiple connections to No. 17 this offseason, including Robinson, first-round wide receiver Carnell Tate, and All-Pro return specialist Chimere Dike, who already held the number. According to the NFL’s report on the change, Robinson did not take over Dike’s 17, and the Titans ultimately slotted Robinson to No. 4, while Tate received No. 14.

Robinson explained that he was not searching for No. 17 in his next chapter. On FanDuel TV’s “Up & Adams,” he said he wanted a single-digit number and that No. 4 belonged to his late friend, Rondale Moore, who died in February. The Titans’ public team materials also list Robinson as No. 4, confirming that the tribute is now baked into his identity in Nashville.

The change is more than jersey trivia because Robinson’s role in Tennessee is expected to matter in the offense’s day-to-day rhythm. The Titans’ official player bio notes that Robinson is comfortable operating in multiple spots and that he led wide receivers with 622 receiving yards from the slot in 2025. That kind of production profile fits a high-movement passing game, particularly in a scheme designed to get quick targets to playmakers.

Robinson’s statistical baseline from his Giants tenure helps explain why the Titans leaned into his fit. In 2025, he totaled 92 catches for 1,014 yards and four touchdowns, and he was used as a targeted option out of the slot. The Titans also highlighted that the signing reunited Robinson with offensive coordinator Brian Daboll, the coach he worked with in New York, a continuity point that can accelerate how quickly new wrinkles are absorbed by the receiver group.

For Titans fans, the number switch sets a tone for how the team’s receiving corps may be organized this fall. Robinson’s No. 4 will stand out on the depth chart as a slot-first weapon, while the rest of the wideout and return picture will determine how consistently he can be deployed against nickel defenses and third-down matchups.
