Week 7 Wednesday Injury Report: Jaelan Phillips among Panthers held out of practice

Carolina opened its prep for Sunday’s game against Tampa Bay with multiple absences on Wednesday, including outside linebacker Jaelan Phillips, who did not practice with a hamstring issue.

The Carolina Panthers began their Week 7 preparation Wednesday for Sunday’s game against the Buccaneers with several players limited or resting, highlighted by outside linebacker Jaelan Phillips, who was held out of practice due to a hamstring injury.

Thomas Incoom, another outside linebacker, also did not practice on Wednesday with a calf issue, according to Carolina’s injury report update from its team website.

The Panthers also listed four players on non-injury-related rest days who did not participate: running back Chuba Hubbard, offensive tackle Taylor Moton, linebacker Devin Lloyd, and tight end Darren Waller.

Carolina’s report also included players who returned to full participation after missing last week, including rookie tackle Monroe Freeling (knee) and veteran running back AJ Dillon (ankle).

Quarterback Bryce Young (knee) was listed as a full participant, as was linebacker Bam Martin-Scott, whose practice window was opened Wednesday after a hamstring issue.

Why It Matters

  • The Panthers’ availability decisions for Sunday will shape Carolina’s defensive edge and depth, with Phillips and Incoom both missing Wednesday practice time.
  • Rest days for several established starters and role players could affect how the team divided reps during the week’s initial preparation.
  • Freeling and Dillon returning as full participants after last week’s miss provides Carolina potential stability up front and in the run game as preparations continue.
  • Young’s full participation supports continuity at quarterback for the start of the practice week, while Martin-Scott’s practice window opening adds a new variable to linebacker depth planning.
