THE APEX TIMES
Cody Bellinger, Paul Goldschmidt and Jazz Chisholm Jr. fueled a 10-run night for the Yankees against the White Sox, one day after another offensive push.
The Yankees kept the AL East conversation tight by doing what they have leaned on repeatedly this season, scoring early and often. In a matchup against the White Sox, New York pushed the scoreboard into double digits again, posting 10 runs while getting at least one hit from every starter in the lineup.
Cody Bellinger provided one of the bigger sparks with a home run, but the production did not hinge on a single bat. Paul Goldschmidt and Jazz Chisholm Jr. also went deep, turning a productive day at the plate into a margin that the Yankees could manage even if the pitching moment did not go perfectly.
Carlos Rodón was described as “a bit iffy,” a nod to unevenness on the mound, but the Yankees’ offense stayed on top of the game all night. With the lineup contributing throughout and the home runs arriving in bunches, the result did not require a flawless pitching display.
The Yankees’ evening mattered more than a standalone win because of what happened elsewhere in the division. In the same rivalry-season rhythm, the Dodgers swept the Rays, and that result provided “some help from an old foe,” helping New York maintain and extend its advantage atop the AL East.
The structure of the Yankees’ approach in this stretch is becoming clear. Even when the starting pitching is not at its sharpest, New York has been able to manufacture innings through volume, with the White Sox game highlighting a lineup-wide ability to get on base and keep rallies alive.
For the White Sox, the takeaway is straightforward. A pitching issue can be survivable, but the Yankees made it difficult by keeping the lineup hot and delivering multiple long balls. When every starter reaches safely and several hitters go over the fence, there is little time for a team to recalibrate.
Looking ahead, the next question for the Yankees is whether this offensive baseline can hold as matchups get more difficult. The postseason picture in the AL East is shaped as much by the ability to capitalize on division-day opportunities as it is by individual games, and New York’s edge will continue to be tested every time Tampa Bay drops points and every time Detroit and Boston find their own momentum.
