Dorsey and fellow school board member Ashley Ritchie-Rowland were arrested in June and charged with theft by unlawful taking after accusations involving funds from a soccer league they oversaw.
A Clark County Public Schools Board of Education member, Ben Dorsey, has been indicted on a theft charge and was reelected to the board, according to WKYT, which reported the development on November 4, 2026.
WKYT said Dorsey and another board member, Ashley Ritchie-Rowland, were arrested in June and charged with one count of theft by unlawful taking. The report tied the allegation to money that Dorsey and Ritchie-Rowland were accused of stealing from a soccer league whose board they served.
The report identified the theft case as involving funds from the soccer organization, with the allegations centered on their roles in both the youth-sports group and the Clark County school board.
According to WKYT, Dorsey was reelected despite the criminal case. The report described the combination of the board’s leadership role in the district and the pending theft allegations as raising questions for the public during ongoing legal proceedings.
WKYT’s account framed the matter as a public integrity issue with overlap between school governance and community sports oversight. The alleged theft is separate from school funding, and the report did not indicate that school district money was the subject of the charge.
As of the report date, Dorsey’s indictment means the case has moved beyond the initial charging stage, with court proceedings remaining the mechanism for resolving the allegations.
Ritchie-Rowland, also named in the June arrest and charge, remains a defendant in the same theft-by-unlawful-taking matter as described by WKYT.
The case is now expected to proceed through Kentucky’s criminal justice process, where the prosecution must prove the allegations and the defendants will have the opportunity to contest the claims in court.
